Wincanton Book Festival 2019
The very first Wincanton Book Festival will take place tomorrow, Saturday 9th March 2019, in Wincanton Library, as well as various High Street shops and venues. Local authors will be available to talk about their books, and their writing experiences.
ANVIL 2019 programme
ANVIL, the local structured discussion group, begins its sixth year with a new season starting this week. This year's programme includes artificial intelligence, environmental art, the next financial depression, liberal democracy and religion.
Wincanton's over-70s Christmas lunch 2018
100 Wincanton residents had a great time at the town's traditional over-70s Christmas lunch on Sunday 9th December at the Memorial Hall. The event was organised by a group of volunteers with grants and donations from local businesses.

Wincanton Quakers will be hosting a talk on the work of Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders). They work in the trouble spots of the world providing medical relief to those suffering from the effects of disasters around the world.

On Sunday 11th November 2018 was the Wincanton Armistice Day parade and service. This year's event had a few unique characteristics, not least that it was a tribute to the Armistice Centenary.

The Bootmakers Workshop and Toe Jam Roller are combining forces to put on a fun-packed, creative and energetic day on Tuesday 30th October. There'll be costume making, wood-fired pizzas and a skate party!
The Poppy of Honour will be unveiled in Wincanton this Saturday
On Saturday 6th October, the Poppy of Honour will be unveiled during a ceremony in Cale Park, Wincanton. The event begins at the Wincanton War Memorial Hall with a parade marching down to Cale Park where the unveiling ceremony will take place.

On Saturday 1st September, Wincanton was host to what must have been its first ever public outdoor cinema event, and what an event it was! Ask anyone who was there and they'll surely agree, it was quite something to behold.
Elroi Manor September Shindig is on Saturday 8th
We will have a bouncy castle, barbeque, ice cream van, stalls, side shows and games. There will be music and theatre provided by local talents, and a spiritual area where you will find Danielle from Glastonbury doing readings, a crystal reader and massage.
It's Wincanton Flower Show tomorrow!
Local, and some not-so-local gardeners and crafts people will exhibit their works, competing for prizes and trophies. It’s a show for all the family, with lots to see and do, but it's not just for gardeners. Categories include homecraft and handicraft, too.
The Greatest Showman: FREE open-air movie at Cale Park! UPDATED
On Saturday 1st September, Wincanton Town Council presents The Greatest Showman, open-air at Cale Park, free for all! A fully licenced community event, planned to include a Prosecco and Pimm's bar, pizza, crepes and an American "drive-thru" food!

The Play Days 2018 programme got underway on 25th July. Events have taken place in Castle Cary, Wincanton and Milborne Port, but more events are still to take place in Templecombe, Sparkford and beyond.
Fun in the Sun 2018 approaches!
This year, to balance the long-standing Wincanton Christmas Extravaganza, the committee have now planned a brand new summer event: ‘Fun in the Sun’, to take place on Saturday 11th August at the Wincanton Sports Ground.
Dogwise Training School Dog Show 2018 is on Sunday 10th
Free family fun in Mere this weekend. Everyone is welcome whether they have a dog or not. Competitions, games, food, drink, stalls, displays and demonstrations, and of course, a bouncy castle.
