Bruton Art Society's annual exhibition is on right now, running until Saturday 26th. There are some 240 works on display in all media and of all sizes. Admission is free and it is well worth the trip to Bruton.
Local author publishes First World War novel
Sarah Caundle, who lives in Templecombe, has just published her first novel. Her fiction explores the impact of the War on loved ones at home as well as the men at the Front, and was inspired by a visit to the Devonshire Cemetery on the Somme.
See The Jar Family live in Cary tomorrow night
The Jar Family will be performing at Caryford Community Hall, Castle Cary on Saturday 29th July. At a recent gig at the David Hall, South Petherton they received a standing ovation and it was said to have been the best show at the hall in 14 years.

Jess Glynn will be performing a live, open-air concert at Wincanton Racecourse on Saturday 1st July. The Jockey Club has organised this huge event to celebrate Wincanton Racecourse's 150th anniversary.

Cakes by Design - currently on display at Papertrees
Anyone who has been into Papertrees on the High Street in the past week will have noticed a spectacular pair of cakes – one that looks like a particularly fine geological sample and the other a mysterious tree from a fairy story. They are the work of Sarah Romain, whose father Adrian owns Papertrees.

Beginning Friday 12th May, Hauser & Wirth in Bruton is host to a three-day festival of film screenings, live music, talks and more. The weekend also includes events organised by Where West Begins, South Somerset’s new film programme, which shows films, with talks, workshops and other activities, in venues including Wincanton Town Hall.

The cult film that made an overnight star of Richard E Grant is on screen at Wincanton Town Hall on Saturday April 8th, as part of Where West Begins’ neighbourhood cinema programme. Withnail and I, made in 1987, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
