In a well-attended talk in the Memorial Hall, Tony Goddard concentrated on what was known of the first three World War One casualties from the Wincanton area.
Sunny Duck Races Bring Wincanton Community Together & Raises £500 VIDEO
A wonderful sunny afternoon brought out droves of Wincanton families to enjoy the Duck Races at the Recreation Ground on Sunday 18th May, an annual fundraising event organised by the PTFA of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School.
A Great May Market in Wincanton with Country Dancing VIDEO
Sunday’s Market in Wincanton on 18th May was a great success, helped by the wonderful weather. The pupils of Wincanton Primary School had a great time doing their Country Dancing, watched by the crowds who flocked to the market. Roll on June's market, next Sunday!
RBL 70th Anniversary Commemoration of Flying Fortress Crash
The crash of an American Flying Fortress has gone down in local folklore and is always commemorated by Wincanton Royal British Legion. The 70th anniversary of the crash will take the form of a Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday 22 June.

On Sunday 22nd June Palmer Snell are running a Charity Day at Wincanton Sports Ground for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. As part of the fun, Somerset and Dorset teams from Palmer Snell will battle it out in a charity football match.
Bruton Art Society Five Schools 2014 Winners
Thirty students and their teachers from five local secondary schools met at the Market House in Castle Cary to see and discuss each other’s work. Who won prizes and certificates of commendation? All the works can be seen on line.

Cale Park Development Gets Underway VIDEO
Wincanton's £500,000 recreation ground redevelopment project, designated 'Cale Park' by locals, has taken its first steps. Town and District Council representatives, with aid from several non-profit organisations including C.A.T.C.H., and groups of local school children have spent a day planting a great many hedge and tree saplings in and around the play area.

We shall be walking coast-to-coast across Devon via the Two Moors Way in early June to raise money to help rebuild Balud village in the Phillipines. The people here, where I have family, lost everything in a typhoon in 2013.
Heritage Lottery Funding Comes to Wincanton
A First World War Community and Arts Heritage Project has won Heritage Lottery Funding. The project focuses on the impact the War had on Wincanton 100 years ago, using local artefacts and commemorative crafted objects to engage with young people.

Toad Patrol – Volunteers Near Hardway Protect Toads on the Road
In early spring, two interesting species can be found in country lanes at dusk. The Toad Patrol has the unusual, but satisfying task of helping toads and newts safely to their pond for spawning.
