The Story of Stourhead Gardens History Society Talk
Stourhead is our biggest local attraction for visitors who come to see its fabulous gardens. Mr Tom Burr of the National Trust will be giving us an illustrated talk about them on Friday 25th November.

2011 is a big year for the Royal British Legion, being its 90th anniversary year. Wincanton RBL will launch their Poppy Appeal in Wincanton Memorial Hall with a Gala Concert being given by Wincanton Silver Band on 29th October.

Andrew Webster was referred to the Balsam Centre's creative writing classes to help him recover from illness. There, he wrote his book; 'Paris in Springtime', a lucid and uplifting account of his descent into 'madness' and his profound spiritual awakening.

Country Market Comes to the Balsam Centre
The 43-year-old Wincanton Country Market, previously hosted by the Dolphin pub on the High Street, has now moved to the Balsam Centre for want of larger premises.
Rodney Legg, "Author, Publisher and Environmental Campaigner", Dies Aged 64
Rodney Legg, the author of the most recent history of Wincanton, leaves behind a rich legacy of books, images, and writing on the history of Somerset and Dorset. He was also an indefatigable walker and effective campaigner in opening up, preserving and drawing attention to the natural richness of the countryside that surrounds us.
